I’ll be the first to admit that when I became serious about taking care of my hair I went on a serious shopping spree. As in, I nearly broke the bank purchasing any and every product that claimed to promote growth and healthy hair… As in my bathroom became a beauty supply store… As in if you named it, I had it…Okay, I am exaggerating quite a bit, but you get the picture. After a couple of months of being an extreme product junkie and realizing how much money I was wasting on hair products that did not work, I came up with plan that helped me properly care for my hair for the least amount of money possible...I am going to share some of my money saving secrets.

Here are 5 quick tips for product shopping on a budget.

1.     Know Your Hair Porosity, Density, and Type

Knowing this information will help you pinpoint products that work best for your hair. For instance, if you have low porosity hair, you want to purchase hair milks and lightweight leave-ins instead of heavier products that will sit on top of your hair. Furthermore, knowing this information will help you pinpoint hair and beauty bloggers and vloggers with similar hair as yours – giving you an idea of what products to purchase to help you cater to your hair needs.

2.     Download Ebates and Ibotta…and Use Them to Save Save Save!

These apps enable you to get cash back for virtually everything and anything. Go to Ulta, Macys, Sephora, and other stores to save on hair and beauty products…or anything else you can think of.

3.     Shop Online and Search for Coupons Before Checking Out

I hardly ever purchase full priced products anymore because it is pretty easy to find coupons and deals with free shipping specials for virtually anything and everything online. Shopping online makes it easy to compare prices, promotions, and the availability of discounts at various online stores at once. Once you have found an online store, literally google coupons for that store and test out the coupon codes at checkout. Don’t get discouraged if they don’t work because it can take up to 3 tries before you find a successful code. Also, don’t forget to check out the online store’s social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) for special promotions because online stores are notorious for using social media to promote specials, especially during the holidays and anniversaries of product launches.

4.     Search for Discount Codes in YouTube Videos

If you are following a vlogger who happens to be reviewing a product your want, most of the times there are special coupons codes in the description bar that will give you a discount on the product or store they are reviewing. It's the same story for popular bloggers on the web.

5.     Stick to What Works for Your Hair Until it Stops Working

This simply prevents you from being a product junkie – i.e. spending a crap load of money on products you don’t necessarily need

Good luck ladies!
