It's November and the weather is really beginning to change depending on where you are. If you are anything like me and you have a January birthday, you are thinking about how to get your hair NICE and RIGHT for the holiday season, New Year festivities, and your birthday.

This post will give you 5 simple tips and tricks to give your hair that extra boost in the last few months of the year.

1. Show Your Scalp Extra TLC

During the fall and winter months, I treat my scalp especially well to stimulate my follicles to promote growth and strengthen my roots. No matter how I wear my hair, at least twice a week I mist and massage into my scalp a homemade rosewater spritz that is infused with a blend of rosemary, peppermint, lavender, and sometimes grapefruit essential oils.

2. Keep Your Hair Moisturized

During the cooler months it is so important to use methods and products that will keep your hair moisturized throughout the week. To combat dryness and prevent breakage during the fall and winter seasons, here is what we recommend.

a.     Use the Rosewater Spritz in the manner described above

b.     Follow up with a hot oil treatment. We recommend you apply a heated mixture of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, peppermint essential oil, and rosemary essential oil to your hair and then sit under a dryer for 20-30mins.

c.      Wash your hair with a moisturizing cleanser, preferably one that contains peppermint, eucalyptus, and rosemary oils. Remember we are trying to stimulate the hair follicles at all stages of your wash process.

e.     Use a leave-in conditioner

f.      Moisturize and seal or employ the LOC (Liquid, Oil, Cream) Method to keep your hair moisturized throughout the week

3. Protective Style to the Max

We only have 3 months! So, if the goal is to acquire longer hair by the end of the year, then you have to employ methods to protect your current length. That being said bun it away, weave it up, braid it, twist it, tuck it, or style it in any way that will reduce over manipulation and protect it from the elements (i.e. the weather, cotton, and your fingers).

4. Drink tons of (Lemon) Water

We need to keep our body hydrated so that our cells can function properly. Drinking lemon infused water is excellent because it works as a detox – flushing out toxins and boosting your immune system. Click here for more infused water.

5. Eat Right (i.e. Up Your Good Nutrient Intake)

Make sure you are eating healthy and getting your daily nutrients in. If that means meal prepping, incorporating smoothies into your daily routine, or using vitamin supplements, do it! You will thank us later!

Bonus: Exercise! Depending on what you do, your heart gets pumping moving blood throughout the body, including the scalp.
